Mount Lipsett is a fantastic hike for beginner hikers who still expect great views.  With minimal exposure or scree climbing, this hike is perfect for anyone uncomfortable with heights.  This trail is 13.2km out and back with 700m of elevation.  The trail starts from an unmarked parking lot. If you find a path that looks like the above picture, you’re in the right place!

This hike can be done early and late season, but the beginning of the trail can be pretty muddy.  The top can have some snow coverage, but with the right equipment (crampons and poles) it can be easily maneuvered around.  A significant portion of this hike is spent in the trees, but the wildflowers growing amongst them are a sight worth seeing.  You will also likely see a grouse or two! The incline through the trees is relatively gradual, giving your legs plenty of time to warm up.

The hike then opens up into a lovely valley, with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.  Keep an eye out for bears, as the grassy slope is prime bear territory.  This is where the incline starts to get more significant. However, there is no shortage of views to keep you occupied if you need lots of breaks!

The summit has a unique jagged rock formation which overlooks the lovely Highwood Pass valley.  You also have views of the impressive mist mountain to the east.   The rocks provide coverage for a snack and a highly recommended peak beer!

**Please note that I took my dog off leash only for this photo. Always leash your dogs in bear territory!
